FiveM Base Server Setup Guide

Launching a FiveM base server for zombie survival RP can feel overwhelming: framework, hosting, scripts, clothing, vehicles, maps, and economy - all before your first player joins. This FiveM server setup guide gives you a proven order of operations using assets from Gulag Creations.

Phase 1 - Foundation (week 1)

1. Pick hosting & artifacts

Use a host with strong CPU and NVMe storage. Match FiveM recommended artifacts. Test with 0 players before you invite beta testers.

2. Choose your framework

ESX, QBCore, or QBox - pick one and commit. Read our framework comparison if undecided.

3. Core resources

  • Database (oxmysql recommended)
  • Voice (pma-voice or equivalent)
  • Inventory & appearance matching your framework
  • Admin tools & logging

Phase 2 - Survival identity (week 2)

4. Zombie / survival scripts

Install your core loop: infection, loot, needs, or extraction mechanics. See best zombie survival scripts for 2026.

5. Base server pack

A Gulag base server bundle accelerates launch - starter scripts, props, or themed assets bundled for survival hosts. Check the base / pack collections in the store.

6. Clothing & peds

Phase 3 - World building (week 3)

7. Maps & MLOs

Define loot tiers: city = high risk, rural = low tier, military = endgame. Place props from Gulag map/asset packs to support your loot script zones.

8. Vehicles

Add 5-10 thematic vehicles first - rusted civics, trucks, maybe one armored vehicle for events. Expand as economy stabilizes.

9. server.cfg load order

  1. Framework core
  2. ox / shared libraries
  3. Stream packs (clothing, vehicles, maps)
  4. Gameplay scripts (zombie, loot, jobs)
  5. UI & phone last
